Well, the 2nd of Lionel was a fb post of a new still:
So this 3rd of Lionel is a look at one my fave of his silents, The Switchtower, released June 16, 1914, with Henry Walthall as the switchmaster. Mr B plays the apparent leader of a counterfeiting ring who also works as the engraver. There is action, drama, humor, more action, vague threats to the switchmaster's wife (Claire McDowell), and an interesting ending with a unique hero. Did I mention a train? This is a GREAT film!
Mr B manages to once more make himself seem young, though his size and height are also used to good effect. He actually indulges in some violent action, albeit slightly reluctantly, but we do see he is a tall and big fellow with floppy black hair and a babyish face--he was still midthirties here. Take a look:
That grin though...
This is a lovely and complete film, well worth a watch and available online: Check it out at the Internet Archive https://archive.org/download/TheSwitchtower/TheSwitchtower.mp4
Happy 3rd of Lionel Barrymore!
